I need to eat lunch but I found this NOVA webite dedicated to evolution and wanted to make a quick note of it. I’ll explore and expans this post soon – I hope.

Me.

I’ve had the tough job of teaching evolution on a number of occasions. It can be a tough sell. The main difficulties are the typically large time frames and subtle changes that occur over time. It doesn’t happen in real time for organisms that humans tend to maintain as pets. If we were inclined, we could video the changes though a microscope a a bacterial population evolved to some stress we, as experimentors, could apply. The stress could be due to abiotic or biotic factors – possibly temperature and predator respectfully. I could go on.

If you teach biology you may want to show a simulation. I just saw this one over at Sandwalk [thanks Larry] and wanted to pass it on.

Embedded Video

Pass it on.
